Rural tourism

The largest part of the Peninsula consists of countryside that still functions as such today. The vast majority of the North Holland countryside is formed by polders. This includes historic reclamation such as De Scherme and De Beemster UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are nowadays pasture lands and home to animals such as cows and sheep. Modern polders, such as those in the Noordkop and dune regions, exhibit a mass of vibrant colour during the spring due to the huge numbers of flower bulbs cultivated there. In West Friesland various orchards can be found.

Our countryside is the perfect setting for a holiday stay or day trip. Detailed information about rural accommodation can be found at the VVV rural tourism specialist site.
